We had a fun-filled weekend with Easter Egg hunts, a trip to the beach, and a great Easter dinner at Grandma Horsie's house. Pictures below. Also, Allison wanted me to remind you that she added a post from her trip to the beach with Ellie but it was inserted a few posts down, so don't forget to look at it.
Isabel didn't appreciate my paparazzi-style photography.
Our failed family photograph. We have several more like this. In case you are wondering, Anna kept saying her eyes hurt and refused to look up. I guess we could have taken the picture in a better place but we gave up instead.

Deep Thoughts by Anna
My birthday is really far away.
(pause)
We'll have to get on the freeway.
--------------------------------------------
If you know how Anna feels about the freeway, you'll truly appreciate this cute statement. For those who don't - just know that Anna is hodophobic. Yes, there is a word for "fear of the freeway." It makes it quite hard to go places. But apparantly, she would be willing to get on the freeway if it meant we were going to her birthday. I'm not sure how to travel to June 30th on the freeway, but if anyone else does, let me know.

Just when you thought it was about to get easier...
When Adam and Isabel were just a few months old and I took them to church for the first time, I spoke with another Mom of twins. As I nursed one, then traded Ben and nursed the other, she said she could sympathize. Her twin girls were then 5 years old. I asked her when it got easier - she said, "When they are 5."
At the time I thought - no way. She doesn't remember what it is like to wake up every hour. She doesn't remember what its like to nurse two babies 5 times a day. She doesn't remember the 2 hours of evening colic. It HAS to get easier before age 5.
Well, when Adam and Isabel started sleeping through the night it did get a little easier. And when they started walking and playing more it got a little easier again. That honeymoon period lasted a little while. Now, I'm afraid, we are entering the terrible twos. Oh, and Anna has hit a rough patch as she approaches age 4 too.
I was going to go into specifics about our life with the kids right now, but I guess more whining is NOT what we need. And, I'm pretty sure you've all heard this before - I know I've posted the exact same type of complaints. I just like to tell it how it is - a bunch of posts about Disneyland, the beach and other lovely days just wouldn't be telling the whole story.
So, here's to a dinner ALONE while my Mom watches the kids this evening. It's been a while, and WE NEED IT!!
P.S. Here's a tip - when your kid is being bad, don't threaten them with not being able to go to Grandma's house. Because you need them to go to Grandma's house, you want them to go to Grandma's house, and that is just an empty threat that would never be followed through on.

Playing in the Sand
When Ellie was here last week we drove down to Newport Beach. For the first few hours we let the kids play in the sand. I couldn't believe how entertained they were. We had to drag them away. The weather was perfect but the water is still cold. I'm not a big beach swimmer anyway, too salty for me. Anna and Ellie put their legs in a few times.
And here is Isabel giving me a dirty look. No more pictures!

I am a GIANT
I still haven't gotten around to full posts about Disneyland and the beach, so here is another single shot. My Mom and I on the little kiddie train at Disneyland.
Whenever I take pictures with my Mom, I look like a giant. She is small and petite, and I am...well, not. Even our heads are vastly different in size. In this picture, I'm sitting right next to her. I'm not closer to the camera, or sitting higher up or anything. I just have a huge head apparently.
Other than my GIANT noggin, this picture is pretty cute. Love you Mom!
Oh, and talking about my giant noggin reminded me of one of the funniest scenes from a movie ever. Skip to 1:35.

Hey Mickey, You're So Fine
This week we are going to the happiest place on earth. Ellie is coming into town, and we are taking Anna along with my Mom. Anna has never been! Ben is going to hang out with the babies (toddlers? They aren't really babies anymore, I need a new term) that day - we decided they wouldn't get much out if it yet. They told me they're cool with it.
When I was a kid I kept count of how many times I had been to Disneyland. By age 18 it was like 42 or something like that. Then Ben and I went once during our dating/married life - I think when we were 19 or so. And I haven't been back since. Stupid Utah. Just kidding. But living in Utah for 8 years probably did have something to do with it.
I doubt Disneyland will live up to my memories, but I am pretty excited anyway. I just hope Anna loves it as much as I think she will.
P.S. Ellie - the weather says mid 70s all week. Wooo hooo!!
P.P.S. - I can't believe Disneyland is $66 for adults and $56 for kids. Ouch.
