So I was thinking about my gripe with the oil companies. I expect them to make money, obviously. But RECORD profits seem a bit ridiculous. The fact is that we've actually been fairly lucky - other countries pay a lot more for gas (the UK is near $10/gallon). And I can get used to the price of gas, I guess. I don't complain every time I fill up anymore.
I think the problem is the lack of alternatives. Don't get me wrong, I'm not very good to the environment, and I wouldn't consider myself "green" by any means. But it still drives me crazy how many great technologies are out there to save energy and fuel, but most of them aren't actually being used yet. I mean, we could generate 3 percent of the entire nation's electricity with cow manure. One of my clients could power 40 2,000 square foot homes with just one little generator that uses waste heat.
I know I'm not the first person to ask for this, but PLEASE, can we have a hybrid Minivan option? They have been selling a Toyota hybrid Minivan in Japan for seven years now. Seven years. It gets 40 miles to the gallon, versus the 16 I get with our Caravan. We can't fit in any of the other fuel-efficient cars, so I am really looking forward to the first option for families who need more than 4 or 5 seats.
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled, non-political, "Mommy" blog.

I've never liked minivans, but I think you have an interesting point. Maybe we should be the new targets for green marketing. :) I linked to you from my post here:
Are Work at Home Moms (and Dads) Green?
sorry, i hope i didn't offend you with my earlier comment. i have to admit that i didn't even read the ENTIRE article. =o/ i guess i have just gotten over the price of gas and expect everyone else too as well.
you have an excellent point about the minivan. I bet they would be big over here.
i have also heard about the cow poop. it's crazy that we consider our country so advanced yet in some ways we are so behind.
have you gotten your reusable grocery bags yet?
You are so witty- and so true! My Honda Odyssey- which is upposed to get 23 MPG gets about 16 or 17! I loved your beach pictures &.... well, are you planning on having more?

Crack me up. Thank you! I wish they would make that mini van here, I would be a fan. I think your mommy politic blogs are hillarious! Keep'um coming! P.S. I think the reason why I hate earthquakes is because they are so unpredictable. You can see a tornado and huricane comin. ya know?
i would love the mini van too!! My kia is only 16 miles also but we need the mini van. I think all new housing in areas that have energy crisis every summer or winter should be mandated to have solar pannels. My inlaws put them in and they get checks from the energy companies every year. Your kids have gotten so big. we have to get together again next time i am in riverside
